Prior to Vanderbilt ownership, it was home to Dr. Samuel Bard (physician to George Washington during the American Revolution), David Hosack, the noted horticulturist, and the Langdon family, descendants of John Jacob Astor. “It’s a challenge being able to work with independent operators who have experience,” Mr. Foote said. “We attract individuals who are more serious” about being part of a life-changing initiative, he said. A History of the Mansion
Our vision is to establish 11 regional offices and 220 service areas to support 2,400 recovery homes in the VSL network. I began my career as a deputy prosecutor in the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office. I started my time there prosecuting primarily high-level drug crimes and eventually was moved into prosecuting sex crimes and homicides. Despite their overall delight with Hyde Park, the Vanderbilts were not entirely pleased with certain aspects of its design. Warren developed a scheme that would transform the halls on the first and second floors of the mansion and alter the living room. The architectural lines of new house built for the Vanderbilts was derived from the 1847 Langdon mansion that preceded it. Both houses exhibit the same classical concepts of simple blocks articulated by pilasters and a semicircular portico on the river facade. Ultimately, if there was going to be a change that was made, that would require some logistics, and so you want to make sure that if there was going to be a change made, that you have something that’s set up — and that may take time to accomplish. But, I’m definitely open to hearing from other businesses or service providers who would be willing to provide those monitoring services at a reduced rate to defendants and the county.
